POOLE Pirates’ scheduled trip to Plymouth Gladiators this weekend has been postponed due to a “spongy” track at the Coliseum.
Pirates, who are set to begin their season at Wimborne Road against Oxford Cheetahs on Friday, were due to head to Devon on Saturday evening.
However, Gladiators have moved early to postpone both that fixture and their subsequent home meeting, with winter track works not yet complete.
A statement from the club read: “Due to the current track conditions and further rain forecast, the decision has been made to postpone our first two home meetings.”
Gladiators promoter Mark Phillips added: “The track is currently spongy and needs sunshine to bake the clay/shale.
“We still need three days of sunshine to dry the top layers.”
A new date for the BSN Series fixture is yet to be confirmed.
